Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind?

Prompt Response: I would compare my mind to a bouncy house, because my thoughts are bouncing around from one thing to another. It can be hard for me to focus on one thing unless I really care about it. My mind will start to wander if I get bored. I try not to lose focus during school, but sometimes I can't help it. I think this is a pretty accurate comparison.

Summary: I drew my heart split between logic and emotion.

Reflection: I think that having an active mind can be a good thing, but you have to be able to control it when you need to.

Describe a real moment in your life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story. Tell what happened, and why it felt like a turning point in your life?

After reading “Out, Out—” by Robert Frost, reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome?
